BIOGRAPHY
Graeme Lade was born in Sydney and educated in Canberra. He graduated with an Arts (Honours) degree from the Australian National University, majoring in Japanese history and language. His diplomatic career began in 1971 with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, during which he held key overseas assignments in Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, the USA, and served as Australian Ambassador to Nepal from 2006-2009.
In retirement, Graeme has devoted himself to the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation (ACCF), where he has been a Board Member since 2009 and served as Chair from 2016 to 2023. He continues to play a vital role in ACCF’s projects in Nepal, Bhutan, Vietnam, and the Philippines, contributing towards the goal of eliminating cervical cancer in Australia by 2035.
In addition to his voluntary work, Graeme has accompanied his partner, a Philippine diplomat, on her postings to Vietnam, Myanmar, and Melbourne, Australia.
